Queenslanders who’ll make headlines in 2013

The Brisbane-born 40-year-old has adopted American citizenship as well as an American accent, but her steady US career still piques our interest.

After a few small TV roles in 2012 (including a two-parter in Suits, which stars her husband Gabriel Macht), Barrett could have a hit on her hands in 2013 with Zero Hour.

She stars as Laila Foley, the wife of an editor of a sceptical magazine (Anthony Edwards) who gets drawn into a huge conspiracy when she is kidnapped.

The evil plot involves clocks, the church, Nazis and the end of the world. Naturally.

Trailer for Matching Jack Online
Posted by Rose on Jul 8, 2010 No Comments

Century Fox has released the trailer for the new Australian drama “Matching Jack” which, quite frankly, looks like it’s going to be a hard one for the parents of the world (me included) to watch. Here’s hoping for a happy ending! Having said that, don’t doubt this’ll be a great flick – looks it. Jacinda Barrett, James Nesbitt and Richard Roxburgh star in what’s the first film in over a decade for Australian filmmakers Nadia Tass and David Parker (whose “Big Steal” is one of my favourites!).

The film is based around Marisa (Jacinda Barrett) and her son, Jack (Tom Russell). Life seems idyllic for the suburban Melbourne family until Jack suddenly winds up in hospital. Marisa tries to find her husband, David (Richard Roxburgh) who is in fact in the next suburb apparently planning to leave Marisa for his current mistress, Veronica (Yvonne Strahovski) with his phone off and not a care in the world. Jack is diagnosed with Leukemia and when David finally surfaces he learns that he is the key to Jack’s survival. If a matching bone marrow donor can’t be found on the world register, maybe there is some child of David’s out there from one of his flings?

Here’s the trailer for “Matching Jack”, which will hold its World Premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival (22 July – 8 August) ahead of a national release on 30 September by Twentieth Century Fox.

Still, Release Plans for Strahovski film
by Clint Morris

”Matching Jack”, a new film starring “Chuck” hottie Yvonne Strahovski, will hold its World Premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival (22 July – 8 August) ahead of a national release on 30 September by Twentieth Century Fox.

“Jack” is the first film in over a decade for Australian filmmakers Nadia Tass and David Parker.

Jack is diagnosed with Leukaemia and when David finally surfaces he learns that he is the key to Jack’s survival. If a matching bone marrow donor can’t be found on the world register, maybe there is some child of David’s out there from one of his flings?

Yvonne talks about Matching Jack: “I love dramas, I am drawn to tragic stories, and this [really] encompasses tragedy. It is always fun playing the other woman and trying to make her likable.”

On working with Nadia Tass: “Nadia is such an actor’s director, and she has the upmost respect for the actor’s process, and I think that is so rare to find, especially when I have come from with two years on a US television show. I feel very blessed to be working with Nadia.”

On working with co-star Richard Roxburgh: “Most of my scenes are with Richard [and] he is such a pro… his cheeky attitude on set has been fun as it is quiet a morbid script…he makes everyone laugh and the crew adores him.”
